English Wooks, tienda especializada en material didáctico en inglés en Valencia, tiene el placer de anunciaros la realización de un taller de entrenamiento intensivo de Jolly Phonics a través de una de sus preparadoras oficiales, Beki Wilson, que se celebrará el próximo 1 de marzo de 2014, en English Wink, en Valencia.

The course will be run by Beki Wilson (Official Jolly Phonics trainer)
A fun approach to teaching children to read and write in English.
The Jolly Phonics Intensive Professional Training consists of one day´s training session. It is based on the theory of the Jolly Phonics method, presentation of the sounds, songs, stories and direction on how to implement and use synthetic phonics in a classroom setting. The course caters to small, intimate groups and is for anyone wishing to know more about Synthetic Phonics.
Also included in the training session is detailed instruction on how to use the specific Jolly Phonics materials (such as the songs and actions, puppets and workbooks, IWB), worksheets, handouts and an official certificate of attendance.
Jolly Phonics Training Includes:
- The theory and main principles of the Jolly Phonics.
- Advantages of teaching to read and write in English using the Jolly Phonics method.
- A timetable of the 5 basic skills.
- An introduction to the letter sounds, including rate of introduction, order of introduction, digraphs, letter sound revision, tricky words, using a multi-sensory approach.
- Reading, blending, letter formation and how to identify the letter sounds in words.
- Advice on resources and “decodable” reading books available.
- Practical ideas (activities and games) for classroom teaching. examples of lessons, planning a curriculum and evaluation.
- An introduction to the Grammar Handbook 1.
- Full Email support.

- Bring a memory stick to download resources.

- Introduction into synthetic Phonics and Jolly Phonics.
-The 5 basic skills.
- Learning the letter sounds: storylines and actions, multi-sensory approach, letter sound order, digraphs.
- Jolly Phonics Whiteboard demo.
- Letter formation.
- Blending: blending words, activities and games.
- Identifying the letter sounds in words (segmenting): hearing the sounds in words.
- Tricky Words.
- Dictations: simple dictations and independent writing.
- Main teaching points reviewed.
14:00-15:00
- Lunchtime
15:00-15:30
-Main teaching points (a brief summary).
- Decodable books: read and see books and Jolly Readers.
-A brief review of some of the resources available.
- Interactive Whiteboard Demo (advanced letter sounds).
- An introduction into Jolly Grammar.
15:30-17:00
*2nd Part of the Day. Put your news skills into practice!
- How to teach the letter sounds: ESL friendly, fun, practical activities, games and ideas to implement in the classroom.
